My Story

How Aunt Nut came to be — and why I wrote these books for you.

Hi, I’m Aunt Nut!
Not your average advice-giver. Not a guru. Not someone who thinks she has it all figured out.
Just a woman who’s been through enough to know that life gets messy — and that sometimes, all you need is someone to sit beside you and say, “Yep, that sucks... now here’s what we’re gonna do.”,

The truth is, I had a real-life Aunt Nut of my own growing up, who was one of my biggest supporters and helped me get through many tough times. When I grew older, my best friend decided to honor my Aunt’s memory and have her kids call me Aunt Nut too! Honestly, it turned out to be a very appropriate title for me. The Aunt Nut writing you today was born from a whole lot of life. From heartbreaks and hard lessons, from breakdowns and breakthroughs, from belly laughs and the kind of tears that hit your pillow at 2 a.m. She came from my own journey of trying to make sense of things that didn’t make sense — and wanting desperately to help others do the same.

I started writing these books because I saw people — good people — struggling. With adulting. With relationships. With grief, burnout, money, motherhood, and everything in between. And no matter how different the struggle, the heart of the problem was often the same: people felt alone, overwhelmed, or like they were failing at being human.

So I decided to write the book I wish I had during some of the hardest moments in my life.

I wanted to give people a voice of comfort that didn’t sugarcoat things.

A voice that was honest, a little bit sassy, a lot compassionate, and full of practical support. A voice that reminds you that you can feel broken and still be beautiful, that you can make mistakes and still move forward, and that you can laugh even while life is falling apart.

Aunt Nut is a little bit like the big sister, favorite aunt, or wise friend we all need — someone who doesn’t flinch at the mess, but pulls up a chair, pours the coffee, and says, “Let’s figure this out together.”

If my books, my journals, or even one of my silly sayings can make someone feel just a little more seen, a little more supported, and a whole lot more capable of handling life — then I’ve done what I came here to do.

So, thank you for being here.
Thank you for letting me be part of your journey.
And if no one’s told you today:
You’re doing better than you think.

With truth, heart, and humor,
– Aunt Nut
